Good luck to our Development side tomorrow, who travel to Chesham United Development in their first game of the season!
Having finished in a respectable 7th place in the 2023/24 season, they will begin their latest Southern Region Women's Football League Division One North campaign this weekend.
The development team play a crucial role at Abingdon United Women's. With the ever-growing pathways, the development team was already in place and has seen members of the squad step up to the first team.
Last season's top scorer Mimi Hodges was one of those to make the step up. Hodges scored 23 league goals for the development side. Freya Gilmore was also added to the first team squad this season after having a good season in the development squad, and earned our Player of the Match in the first team's opening game against Bridgwater United.
Ruby-Lou Phillips, Holly Ward and Frida Ives, who are all part of this weekend's squad for the development side, also made appearances in the FA Women's National League for the first team last season, whilst goalkeeper Maisie Moore has been part of the first team squad during pre-season.
