Abingdon United Women were held to a 1-1 draw at The Northcourt on Sunday afternoon, after an equaliser by Bridgwater United in the final stages of the game.
It was once again an unchanged side for Chris Smith, after a good run of form of late.
The opening stages were fairly quiet on a sunny day at OX14. Mollie Dyer had the only effort at goal early on, forcing a save out of visiting goalkeeper Emma Ayres at her front post.
Libby Gilmore fired a free kick low into the area, which was blocked, before Molly Lygo's effort on the turn went over.
Moments later, United were lucky to survive from a corner kick. Connie Pengelly found space in the area to take a first time effort, which was originally saved by Caitlin Crierie, before eventually being cleared by Millie Hodge on the goal line.
After soaking up the pressure, The Yellows went down the other end, and went in front. A corner from the right by Lygo found Lauren May, who's header beat the goalkeeper to give United the advantage.
After the opener, it was all Abingdon for the closing stages of the first half. Charlotte Deeley hit a volley from range which was blocked, before Kara Howes dragged an effort wide.
Into the second half and Smith's side began the half as they finished the last. However, there were no clear cut opportunities.
Bridgwater began to up the pressure in the final 20 minutes of the game. A shot from the edge of the area was tipped over by Crierie, before Gilmore headed clear on the line from the resulting corner.
There was a turning point in the game as Lygo was dismissed with less than ten minutes remaining, meaning United had to see out the game with ten.
With three minutes to go, the visitors found the equaliser. A corner that was cleared fell to Keeley Banfield, who finished well into the top left corner ensuring the Somerset-based side took a point back to Fairfax Park.
Player of the Match for The Yellows was winger, Erin Hartigan!
For United, despite disappointment at not taking all three points, it means one point from our remaining two games secures FA Women's National League survival.
Smith's side are on the road in their next fixture, with a trip to Southampton on 13th April, 2pm kickoff at Winklebury Football Complex.
