Match Preview: Abingdon United Women Development vs QK Southampton

Abingdon United WFC1 Mar - 15:15

Our development side take centre stage at The Northcourt in the SRWFL Chairman's Cup, as they welcome QK Southampton.

Abingdon United Women Development are in Cup action tomorrow afternoon, as they face Southern Region Women's League Division One South side QK Southampton at The Northcourt, 2pm kickoff in the Chairman's Cup.

The development side have competed well in the Division One North this campaign, currently sitting 4th in the league, with 21 points from 13 games.

Lead by coaches Jon Ward and Paul Biddle, they come into this game on the back of a mixed run of form in 2025, including a 3-0 victory against Slough Town.

Charlotte Bigmore scored her 14th goal of the campaign in that game, with Beth Hawtin and Olivia Ward also scoring in that game.

Tomorrow's visiting team QK Southampton have struggled in their respective division. However, they picked up their first win of the season in February, with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth Sports Reserves.

Top scorer Megan Dries, who has four goals to her name this season, was on the scoresheet, whilst Georgia Sims and Zara Vincent also scored, in a much needed confidence boost.

Three other games will take place in the Chairman's Cup tomorrow. AFC Varsity vs Bursledon, Badshot Lea vs AFC Stoneham, whilst Wimborne Town face Tilehurst Panthers.

With no first team game for our women's side tomorrow, it provides a great opportunity for supporters to see players coming through at the club, with faces that could well be seen in the first team in the near future.

Entry is free for the game, and any support is greatly appreciated!
