United host Reading in the Berks and Bucks FA Women's Senior Cup.

Match Preview written by Jamie Stonehouse.

After a very successful performance against Southampton in a 4-0 win, Abingdon United Women will hope to continue their strong form against Reading on Sunday afternoon.

United's last game in the Cup was a convincing 4-2 win against Woodley United, with a brace by Lauren May helping to secure the win.

For Reading, they would need penalties to progress past Caversham United, after a 1-1 draw in normal time in the previous round.

However, progress they did, and despite having yet to pick up a point in their respective division, The Royals have very good cup form, so it will be all to play for at The Nortcourt.

Pre-Match Thoughts - Chris Smith

Recently appointed Head Coach Chris Smith will be taking charge of his first game back with the Club on Sunday afternoon.

Smith has a previous spell with United a few years ago in the coaching staff, and recently rejoined the Club from Oxford City.

He said on joining the Club: "The players, the staff, the club in general have been absolutely amazing.

"I can't wait to get started. Last Sunday was brilliant to see. To watch the team perform really well, and something to build on ready for this weekend and weeks coming."

Ahead of Sunday's game with Reading, Smith is looking forward to the challenge that our quarter-final tie presents.

He said: "Whenever you refer to Reading, you refer to them as a big club. Regardless of what happens, they still have such a big following.

"I've already been in the opposition dugout this season, and I've seen it first hand what get can bring as a club and as a support.

"I'm excited for it. It's the chance for us to go on in a cup that I'm really passionate about as is the rest of the group.

"This weekend is a good chance for us to continue the momentum, against a big name of a club that are rebuilding."
