Away Preview: Keynsham Town vs Abingdon United

Abingdon United WFC23 Nov - 15:52

Abingdon travel to the AJN stadium to take on Keynsham Town in the FAWNL

Match Preview written by Jamie Stonehouse

Abingdon United return to league action tomorrow afternoon, as they travel to Somerset to take on Keynsham Town.

United will aim to continue climbing the table, as their 4-0 win over Southampton means that they sit 9th, with eight points, and they'll be looking to add to that.

Keynsham Town have had a positive start this season, sitting 5th with 16 points, and coming off back of a very positive 4-1 win against Worthing, means that Keynsham, will be in excellent spirits for the encounter.

The last time these teams clashed was at the AJN stadium in April 2024, where Abingdon put in a well-earned performance.

After going 1-0 down in the first half, they came back to secure a 3-1 win. United had three different scorers that day: Erin Hartigan, Molly Lygo and Lauren May, who all got on the scoresheet.

The Players Thoughts - Caitlin Crierie

Sunday's game saw goalkeeper Caitlin Crierie keep a third successive cleansheet for The Yellows, making it four this season between the sticks in all competitions.

Crierie is looking forward to tomorrow's game, and is hoping the side can continue their improved run of late.

She said: "I’m looking forward to the game and getting back to league action, to try and continue solidifying our place in the league.

"The past few games we’ve performed excellently at the back, and have kept consecutive clean sheets so hopefully we can continue that form into this weekend.

"We’ve had a tough first half of the season but now is the time to push for the points we deserve."
