After making their first team debuts last season, Mimi Hodges and Freya Gilmore have committed to the new season.

Abingdon United Women's is delighted to announce that duo Mimi Hodges and Freya Gilmore have signed up for the 2024/25 FA Women's National League season.

Mimi and Freya both made their senior debuts last season, having progressed through the Club's development side, displaying the pathways available at Abingdon United.

Gilmore made six appearances for United in the FAWNL last season, whilst Hodges made three appearances, scoring her first goal in the concluding game of the campaign against Moneyfields.

First Team Manager Paul Corrie said: "Since joining Abingdon United this time last year, my main focus is on player development and to provide a pathway to the first team. Since November, I’ve been able to implement this and this season we have added more teams to the female side of the Club.

"Seeing both Freya Gilmore and Mimi Hodges perform last season for me, it was a joy to watch as they have both stepped up into National League football when we needed them most and they performed against some of the toughest opponents of last season's campaign. Adding them to my first team squad has been a no brainer and I can’t wait to see how they perform this season!"

Speaking on the progression of players to the First Team, Corrie said: "This season I’ll certainly be looking to do the same again, as we now have the 17s, 18s and development squad to choose from.

"If good enough, the girls will play National league football, it’s as simple as that. I can’t wait to see who’s next to take that next step up in their playing careers and fulfil their potential."
